Component Runner, LLC creates and delivers bid-quality or production ready Building Information Modeling, floor and roof truss designs, wall panel detailing and loose material takeoffs using MiTek 20/20 eFrame™ software exclusively for MiTek 20/20 customers at a cost less than in-house design costs.

Component Runner's stringent process and web based technology provides a global design resource for you, In as little as 4 jobs we will become a productive and ecconomical solution for your component design needs.  

Component Runner is a licensed and insured business, owned and operated by a former MiTek employee with over 30 years industry experience in a technical leadership capacity. Component Runner, LLC is not owned or operated by MiTek but is fully authorized to offer this service exclusively for MiTek customers.

 J. Chip Dean – President - 33 years SBC industry experience.

Chip entered the truss industry in 1977 as a truss designer in Sacramento, California working under a professional engineer. He then moved to the Seattle, Washington area to another truss plant as a production scheduler, computer programmer and design manager. During that time, he became an expert in computer technology and production control using short interval scheduling methods. In 1986 Chip joined Gang-Nail Systems, Inc. (now MiTek) as a Regional Technical Support Representative. He eventually moved to St. Louis and worked at MiTek's world headquarters in Chesterfield, Missouri for 12 years. In 2005 he moved back to his roots in the Boston, Massachusetts area.

Always passionate about the truss business, Chip spent his 21 years at MiTek in the following technical capacities. Regional Technical Representative, District Sales Manager, Product Manager USA software, Technical Support Director, Technical Marketing Director and Marketing Director.

Chip was a spokesperson for MiTek's customers all those years with MiTek and influenced the entire MiTek 20/20 software suite.

Few people understand the MiTek software and the technical aspects of the Structural Building Components Industry as well as Chip.

Chip and his wife Anna live in Marshfield at Component Runner, LLC headquarters.

David R. Bailey – V.P. of Operations - 18 years industry experience working in a design and management role.

David brings impeccable component design skills, strong people skills and exclusive MiTek software experience. Initially, he will develop the PM role and manage his own team, but ultimately His primary focus will be the management of all the PM teams, education and training and instrumental in the design of the technology backbone.

Dave and his family live in Norwell, Massachusetts, and manages our Project Manager and Design teams and all technical aspects of the business.

Eddie White - Project Manager - 30 years industry experience working in a design and management role for multiple truss plants.

Eddie brings strong estimating and design skills to the table as well as exclusive MiTek software experience. Eddie started in the industry in 1980 as a design technician and Chief estimator for a large truss manufacturer in Mississippi. Eddie's high attention to detail and strong leadership skills were recognized and the last 12 years he managed the design departments at two different component manufacturers.

Eddie is based in the Atlanta, GA area and manages a team of up to 10 design team members to ensure fast turnaround with the highest degree of accuracy.

 Mike Colcombe - Project Manager - 26 years industry experience working as a carpenter, building material sales and component manufacturing.

Mike started as a framer for a custom home builder outside of Pittsburgh, PA.  After moving into building material sales he began working as a production manager then truss and panel designer for a national lumber dealer.  He worked his way through the organization to become the Vice-President of Manufacturing where he developed several manufacturing locations, processes and turn-key framing operations throughout the Eastern and Mid-West regions.  After relocating to Denver, CO for another national lumber dealer managing major market manufacturing and installed sales operations, Mike moved to Kennesaw, GA to work for a regional home builder to spend time with his family and manage component manufacturing and field operations. 

Mikes enthusiastic passion for integrating field practices with materials and component packages provided the inspiration to start 5-STAR Building Solutions, a turn-key framing company for lumber dealers in the North Georgia marketplace.  His comprehensive knowledge of building materials, component manufacturing and real-world framing practices provide the expertise needed to truly integrate components and loose material specifications.

Mike is an advocate of componentized building systems including wall panel systems and has conducted training for code enforcement officials, framing companies, component manufacturers and home builders throughout the country on the subject.  Mike actively served on the board of WTCA and served as VP of the CTMA and the GCMA chapters.

E. Gene Farris, Jr. - Project Manager - 11 Years industry experience

 

After serving in the US Navy for 5 years, Gene earned a BS in Microbiology with minors in Bio-Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Business from the University of Southern Mississippi. Gene started in the truss industry as a Truss Designer in 1999 in Charlottesville, VA and after three years was hired by Universal Forest Products as a Lead Designer working in their White Pigeon, MI location.

Gene brings to Component Runner a strong work ethic and great attention to exact detail as well as excellent customer rapport. Gene's customers appreciate his constant sense of urgency and honesty.

 John Workstus - Project Manager - 24 years component industry experience working in design and management for multiple companies.

John began his career in the truss industry designing trusses in a small building home center located in Vermont. One might also find him on the production floor helping to build those same components when an extra hand was needed. The position grew to include sales, interfacing with field project managers, and as Vice President, managing all aspects of the manufacturing end of the business. He has been involved in start up companies, setting up pricing schemes, work flow, sort schemes, scheduling methods and technical design departments. John has extensive experience in training designers and managing design teams.

John started out with Gang-Nail Systems software (now MiTek) and was a BETA user on MiTek SAPPHIRE structure software. As a certified level 3 designer, John brings a strong, detail oriented, yet creative eye to component design. Whole house design with components is the future of the building industry, and John offers his expertise to meet this vision.

John in based in Kingston, NY area and currently is chapter president of SBCA-NY.

Scott Ferrell - Project Manager - 20 years compoenent industry experience

Scott brings to Component Runner over 20 years of component design experience.  He started in the truss design industry in Central Indiana in 1988.  After working in the Indianapolis market for 10 years as a truss designer, he took a Design Manager position with a component manufacturer serving the Northeast Florida market out of Jacksonville, Florida.  After Florida, Scott relocated in Northeast Ohio as a Senior Truss Designer for 10 years.  He brings to Component Runner 12 years of MiTek experience.
Because of his background, he has knowledge & experience with different markets, building codes & regulations as well as numerous design methods.  His strengths are strong customer service skills, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities & a strong belief that integrity is vital in business partnerships. 

Scott & his wife live in Northeast Ohio along with their college age son & 2 daughters adopted from China.  They also have a son currently serving in the Marine Corps.
